Iza studied
classical percussion in Poznan's Music Academy (prof. E. Iwicki) and the
Music Academy of Gdansk (ad. M. Adrjanczyk) from 1998 to 2004. She is
now a Master of Arts in percussive instruments. She developed her passion
for vibraphone and improvisation individually during her studies. After
her graduation she performed in jazz duets (with piano, double bass or
flute) in Poznan's clubs, including the prestigious Blue Note.
Iza also presented her solo vibraphone work at gigs in Poznan and other
cities of Greater Poland. She took part in a big interdisciplinary project
"Verba Sacra" (devoted to the tradition of the word in the spiritual
sphere of European culture), where she performed with a jazz trio in Poznan's
University hall.
Since 2007 she has been living in Nurnberg, Germany, where she is a post-graduate
student of Pat Metheny co-operator and Berklee teacher Bill Molenhof -
Jazz Mallets program in Hochschule fuer Musik. In 2009 she received a
KAAD scholarship. She performs frequently in Nurnberg's jazz clubs as
well as in Poland with Nail Quartet. She is also one of the very few xylosynth
players in this part of the world.
Her trio A-Band Ensemble (vibraphone, marimba, double bass) won the 3rd
prize at a chamber music competition in Nurnberg- organized by Mozartverein
and Ambassador Club.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Iza is a 2 dan Karate Shotokan
gold-medalist - for many years running she had been winning the national
championships (over 6 times), the European cup and European championships.
